Calendar
Here is where you will
find out what we are up to and the dates and times of special fund raising
events. Though there may be more impromptu events that may just happen, below
you will find what is already scheduled.
Special Events:
We are in the process of gathering items for an auction that we would like to eventually schedule. One possibility is to have this auction at the golf outing, but that is not determined as of yet. Please check back for further details.
| Date: | Description: |
| March 10th | Our training begins |
| Both Kipp and Steve are running on schedules provided by various sources included a “professional runner” we work with…thanks Mark! Usually we are running 4 to 5 times a week with the bulk of the running being on Saturday, the day of the eventual marathon. | |
| May 3rd-4th | Bagby garage sale with all proceeds going to the cause |
| Well, so long to the kid’s clothes. It only drained a few tears out of our eyes to see the clothes the kids grew up with go bye-bye. Total raised was $400.00 toward the Running For A Wish cause! | |
| May 31st | Sunburst 5k "tune up" |
| Looks like Kipp is going to get the atta boy award for going for the 10k. I am going to settle for the 5k, but that is better than nothing! Hopefully it will be a beautiful day for the run and oxygen will be provided at the conclusion of the race. | |
| Conclusion: Steve ran in the 5K and finished with a time of 30:06 and a pace of 9:42 per mile. Kipp ran the 10K and finished with a time of 52:19 and a pace of 8:26 per mile. It was a great time for our first race and we are looking forward to the next race. |
| July 26th | Tri-Cities Family YMCA Coast Guard Festival Run in Grand Haven, Michigan |
| This will be a 10K race ran by both of us (Steve's first 10K, so please have medics readily available). |
| Conclusion: The run in Grand Haven was a bit chaotic but fun nonetheless. We arrived a little late, parked a half mile from the start line and we didn't get a chance to stretch out at all. When the air horn went off to start we were still walking up to the start line. However, once we started the rest was down hill, up hill, down hill, and up another hill. Grand Haven is a hilly place and I am sure they could have routed the race on flatter roads, but what fun would that be?!?! I finished with a time of 1 hour and 2 minutes. I was very pleased with that, but even more pleased that I was able to get out of bed the next morning. | |
| August 16th | Golf outing at Mystic Hills |
| What an exciting event this will be!! Check out the Mystic Hills Website for course details, but it is a beautiful course and will be a great and eventful day. Click here for the details. | |

Conclusion:
What an amazing event the golf outing was. We could not have
asked for a better event. The weather was absolutely beautiful and we
felt very thankful for that! The food was terrific both before and
after the event. For lunch and prior to teeing off, we had hotdogs and
hamburgers provided by Mystic Hills and for after the outing we enjoyed
the catering of PoppiQ Barbecue. In between meals, a total of 93
individuals enjoyed 18 holes of great golf. Well, maybe the golf wasn't
great on all 18 holes, but at least the company was good. There were no
big winners on the Hole in One holes, but the witnesses did say that two
shots on the $10,000 hole were within 2 feet of dropping. Congrats to
the winner of the tournament Team Hasse! They finished the day at 14
under. In second place was Team Rahrig at 10 under and third was the
Kevin Koonce team at 8 under. Everybody walked away winners though
thanks to great giveaways and many, many raffle winners. Special thanks to all the hole sponsors and contributors for making the day possible. Additional thanks to Matt Marcella, Brian and Angie Plutat, Meg Bagby and Kyle McAninch. Their help leading up to the event, during the event and after the event was superb and greatly appreciated. Thanks to the extremely talented Marta Koonce for singing "My Wish" to emphasize what the day was all about. And finally, thanks to all the golfers for coming out and participating. Many people traveled far to help us raise the needed funds and it meant so much to see you there. We hope it was well worth it and you had a great time. Thanks again to everyone! |
| September 28th | The Pumpkin Chase Road Race at Bonneyville Mill County Park in Bristol, Indiana |
| This will be our final 10K race leading up to a Half Marathon. |
| October 28th | 13th Annual Indianapolis Half Marathon |
| This will be our first Half Marathon test running through the capital city. Are we allowed to drive or do we have to run the whole 13.1 miles? | |
| January 10th | Half Marathon in Walt Disney World. |
| 13.1 Miles of Disney Magic! We only hope magic will be involved to get us across the finish line. Hopefully by this point we will have trained hard enough to actually enjoy running through the Greatest Place on Earth! When we are done there will be no need to shout, "We're going to Disney Word!" |
